Re: Warhammer Siege Game.
Hi guys and dolls.

To cut a long story short, some of you might be aware, or might not but I have been putting together a significant ammount of terrain, scenery stuff, and general parts for Warhammer Fantasy, for a Warhammer Siege game.

Between myself and Greg we have been attempting to pull together enemies for the Warhammer Siege game.

So, if you are up for it, i'm trying to drum up some enemies, or if you are interested in playing, but don't have an army, I'm more than happy to lend out some of my glittering host High Elves.

Right now it seems the defenders are Myself and Greg (High Elves and Bretonnians) but due to the rules of Siege, the enemy needs to have twice the points - Meaning if me and Greg get 2,00 or so each, the enemy will need 8,000 points, See the dilemma?

Anyway, I've been trying to pull this together for ages, and my warhammer scenery and tables are beginning to get very substantial, so please come and have fun Smile

Max.

RE: Re: Warhammer Siege Game.
I have about 2k points of Dark elves I'd be willing to lend out - unfortunately hardly any of them are painted and those that are painted are painted badly. But if they'd help I could probably drop them round at some point.

Note: The above points values is according to the old dark elf rulebook and doesn't include any special stuff on the characters

RE: Re: Warhammer Siege Game.
Hullo, my Orcs&gobbos are squabbling for a good scrummage.

I would need to work alongside at least one or two other people though as currently I amount to about 2000. I think. I could bulk that up a bit with Items, spears etc. Also I'm strictly novice with rules so a second baddie with me who knows rules is kinda needed!

And lastly - Sundays are open (tho the other half might not like it lol) but Monday daytime is very open!!

RE: Re: Warhammer Siege Game.
Hi Paul, thats awesome.

You are more than welcome to borrow some troops, essentially it looks like it will be an unlikely alliance between Bretonnians and High Elves, or High Elves and Dwarves, against what ever we can cook up.

The rules have got more complex, but far more fun.

I have personally been working even further on my scenery range and its really getting a lot better so we should have an awesome table to play on, anywhere from 4x4 ft in size - 8x4 ft (for the size of this battle 8x4 sounds likely).

The problem is, warhammer siege as a rules system hasn't changed in like 11/12 years, yet the warhammer game has ALOT, fortunately the rules aren't that different and still apply in 90% of the game.

We are just trying to drum up some enemies right now, I'm hoping Chris's orc / goblin army would be up for it, but its difficult finding him an ally, because if Say me and Greg get 2,000 each to spend, that means chris needs 4,000 and his partner 4,000 to spend (the point of siege is you are heavily out numbered like mad, and need to survive, its why i like it because the odds are so against the defender).

So, essentially we just need to find an enemy which can either have 2 4,000 point armies, or generally enough people to work up 8-10 thousand points in models (so it looks like the enemy might end up being like 4 players lol).

Anyway, Paul i'd love to have you come over and take control of some of my Glittering Host - I recommend Korhil, Captain of the White Lion guard, he's a hero (so not a lord choice, as I'll probably be taking teclis who is horridly over powered and cheap in cost) he's pretty awesome, and really beats the f'ing crap out of the enemy.

None the less it should be a good laugh, as I've bought about 150£ worth of castles made by Games workshop for about £60.00 on ebay, meaning we should have quite a formidable castle for the enemy to get into. I'm just working on the scenery on the inside (houses, buildings, rubble etc)

Also Paul - Side note, you up for some Blood Bowl?

I havnt played in ages, wasn't sure if you had the rules / matt for it or not, but if so I am sure I can put my High Elven models together and use them for a game, as I really miss playing that.

Really, I did not say I'd be happy to play my orcs and gobbos.
I didn't say Id need another person to help - which fits in well with Chris's army.
I didn't say I have a fairly good sized army already.

Nope. I didn't say all of that.

Max, Your banned for a week! Tongue

I'm guessing you got my Facebook message then max?

I can do between 2000 and 3000 points of both gobbo's and chaos, so I can either make up points on top of sams, or if Sam does 2000, I lend Paul 2000 of gobbo's, and then sort out 4000 of chaos between me and wayne.

RE: Re: Warhammer Siege Game.
Sounds great!

I'm fond of a large scale green skin army with chaos allies etc which is good.

Essentially unfortunately due to the nature of Warhammer, I'd appreciate we keep to the points limits and or points restrictions for the simple fact, the people defending are already horridly going to get our arse kicked being out numbered 2-1, otherwise I'd just take Tyrion and Teclis, in a large unit of phoenix guard and beat everyone off, fact is the point restrictions are there to sort of balance the game somewhat and allow the game to have a fair ratio of hereo's / lords to men in accordance of the races etc.

However its going ahead slowely but yes, Sam and Chris if you are up for it that sounds great?

Banned for a week you say Sam? Oh well, I better just find someone else in Seaxe to give massive discount prices to then! Smile

I'm still bidding on more parts, but essentially i'm looking at around 8,000 points attacking, and 4,000 points defending.

Oh also Emma, thanks for the offer with the dark elves Smile

I'm hoping all models will at least be under coated for the game, as essentially I have put a lot of effort in getting a lot of my army painted up, and am hoping we can get a game where the models are under coated at least, as it generally looks better and goes with the high scale of effort put into the table top i've been putting together for quite some time Smile

RE: Re: Warhammer Siege Game.
Just out of curiosity, what minis do people have?

I have a lot of dwarfs including war machines and some of the old regiments (such as prince ulthers Dragon Company and the original bugmans) that you can't get nowadays

I also have lizard men (both old and new), an old style slann mage priest, a stegadon and the lizard man hero on the big carnasaur

my chaos army is chaos warriors , beast men , deamonettes, one of each of the greater demons , the chaos lord on the two headed dragon , eight Minotaurs and a hell cannon ( hence the ignoring the army lists because when I first started getting all this daemons, chaos warriors and beast men were all one army although i got the greater demons and hell cannon just becouse i liked them. )

also with regards to non games workshop mini's i have no preblem with people using them provided we can aggree a points value and what stats they use before hand . Maybe not for this seige game but for any future games we do . i say this becouse i have a few non gamesworkshop minis including a heresy demon , a Cryx warcaster from the game warmachine and a rackham vampire

RE: Re: Warhammer Siege Game.
In case you warhammer fiends don't already use it I recommend bookmarking http://www.warseer.com/

I have three logs on there - A Terrain Log; my Orcs & Goblins log; and my "work for other people log". This last one I would have kept quiet about until today when Joshua received his Christmas pressie from me of his Bretonian Knights all painted up in Mhainite colours (Black with Red Trim is a PITA to paint!!! LOL). And I would imagine that by the time he's read this post Gary will have found His Christmas pressie of his Skaven lording it over the TV set lol (He wasn't in when I delivered them so strategically placed them on the TV for him to find).

Scenery: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=282243
O&G: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=282143
Others stuff: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=282136

I've been following the Orcs and Goblins rumour thread recently and in March we get a new RuleBook and also the following:
We get 3 new plastic sets and 3 new blisters:
Plastic:
Savage Orc Boyz
Savage Orc Boar Boys
The Aracharok Spider
Blister:
Wurrzag on foot
Savage Orc Great shaman on boar
??

I'll just work out how many points I have atm and get back to you.....

RE: Re: Warhammer Siege Game.
Hiya Sam, you find Bretonnians hard to paint or just that paint style? (Black and red) as I personally think Bretonnians are very easy to paint, I have a real problem with High Elves mostly, but I've always enjoyed painting Orks most (and modelling).

Greg has a pretty cool Warhost of Bretonnians and after some sound advice from myself his lord is looking awesome, all of them done in a crusader type fashion.

It sounds like you've collected quite a lot over your time wayne Smile

My problem is, I gave all mine away more or less when I stopped playing when I was 14/15. This was a huge ammount, and then more when I was 18, so my old High Elf Army went, wood elves, Chaos, 40K Orks, Space Marines, Tyranids, Lizardmen, Bretonnians and more, I dread to think how much money went there.

I've Bought some more scenery -

Dwarf lord Monument on a Hill.

Dwarf monument monolith type thing (rune'ic / celtic pattern on it) broken in two parts.

A High Elven looking Monolith piece.

Some more modular hill type parts.

Some Defencive locations for artillery (so pallisade style defence parts / stakes in front of them and similar things.

I am considering spending about 300 euro's on a very large castle scenery piece to go with the siege element, as it looks very bretonnian and generally amazing, -

ello. I meant the style Joshua went for - basically Mhainite colours of black wirh red trim. He did ask for red dragons on shields and blazons but i'm no good at freehand art like that - certainly not on 10 units! But he said he didn't mind!

Cool Smile

I don't mind just as long as we can get a decent game rolling really, point isn't about winning, i mean, i'll be fighting as fierce as possible, but I'd ideally just like to set up an awesome game on an awesome table and generally have a good laugh around friends.

Sam - Nice pictures, as to black on red, there are solutions for them but they take a bit of time to get around and a crafty hand.

I'd like to show my models but I dont think the camera does them justice to the level of work gone into them.

How many models did you paint for Josh in the end?

Max - just those 10 knights on horseback. It's all we started on and I've not seen what else he has.

For Gary I did a set of clanrats, and a command unit and warpfire thrower team and warlock engineer. Still got his Daemon of the Horned Rat to do and monsters boxset. (think i've mentioned that already lol)

I will bring my camera and video camera along (stop motion play-by-play video anyone!???? Big Grin ).

On that note - any idea on WHEN this will be???

RE: Re: Warhammer Siege Game.
Right, having totalled up what I have so far I can do a base army of 1563 points. However, by levelling up my shamans, adding in some magic items and armour/shield on one of the warbosses that can go up to 1874 points.

I'm in the process of throwing together 20 Goblin Wolf Riders which adds 290 points which brings my total up to 2164 points (I can take that back down by losing magic items etc).

Voila! Big Grin

RE: Re: Warhammer Siege Game.
Hi sam, thats good.

I think this is the issue about Siege -

we're looking at the enemy needing around 8-9,000 points.

the Bretonnians are cool, I'm sure Josh will be pleased Smile

As to the camera, please do, as my army is fabled for being well painted, its sort of a mix between me paying online to get items painted (uber characters etc) and my own paint job.

I've been meaning to paint Keri the Wood Elf leader for quite some time, but My first attempt wasn't great, and I had to strip him, so i'm making a second attempt.

I've always personally hated painting, and loved modelling, I can paint rather well but some of the minatures I have are golden daemon level of paint job, and I have to confess I didn't paint those, but the others at a professional standard I did.

I've yet AGAIN gone and bought more scenery Smile And I've fortunately made a reseller deal with a german company to sell there warhammer scenery for when I get a store (for now just me but eventually for the store) and I will hopefully be going into re-stocking / Sale of Warhammer Products, and scenery with a new store.

Many thanks,

Max.
