Hi guys.

Last year was the first, and it has returned. The UK Larp Awards (2012) will take place on the Saturday evening of the UK Larp Awareness Party in Leicester, an indoor kit fair with lots of other attractions and competitions

The Awareness Party is on from Saturday, 25 February 10am until Sunday, 26 February 5pm at The Stage Hotel, 299 Leicester Road, Wigston Fields, Leicester, LE18 1JW.

Please see the facebook page for info on the Awareness Party.

The UK Larp Awards allows everyone to vote for people and companies that have been outstanding in the past year. Send your nominations to uklarpawards@gmail.com, and feel free to nominate in all or only some of the categories and to give reasons for your nominations if you wish. Nominations to close at the beginning of February 2012.

For the full list of categories and more information please visit:
this rule7 forum or the facebook page of the same.

Please vote for whoever you think deserves it and they could be in for some kudos! Big Grin
P.S. I am classifying Seaxe and Sorcery as a "Medium LARP" system as we generally have over 30 people turn up to each event, but under 100. Lets get ourselves unified on that front!! (Don't want to waste votes lol)

Sam / Bifford

Guys please do vote for us and encourage your friends to as well. Most of you seem to enjoy our efforts and wear TVS gear so please sooner rather than latter.

Gary
Gary - voting has finished which is why the shortlist is out - now it is just a case of waiting to see who has won each category! Big Grin
Oh dear!
Well it's still good as it means we had enough votes to get into the short-list! So even if we don't win on each of those lists there will be kudos and recognition given.

I mean, Tales of new Albion getting onto the "Best Newcomer" list is great for ToNA - the next event will hopefully have loads of new people wanting to know why it was so good as to get onto the nominations list....

Or that's what we can hope, anyway Big Grin

So who is actually going to the event to see who wins?
Well now we play the waiting game, and i think a big thanks is in order! For all the Players, refs.... well the whole group really, Who have made seaxe what it is. Your all great Big Grin
Send me a text if we win anything please guys! I want to be kept up to date! Big Grin
Seaxe got the runner up position in Best Grass Roots system! Big Grin Nice!

Tales of New Albion didn't place but got plenty of interest! So this should be a great boost for ToNA.

All good news for us Smile
I am not one to usually do a write up of such things but I was very impressed with the amount of interest generated by the LARP Awareness Fayre and the LARP Awards. I was very pleased that Seaxe where invited to have a promotional stall at the event. I am very grateful for Paul, Kim, Dave and Keri for supporting me at the event and for doing a sterling job at promoting our club.

To be honest events like this are important for three reasons 1) You get to see what is going on across the whole of the LARPing world, you can compare and contrast experiences and pick up on trends. 2) You meet new people and you swap stories, experience new systems and realise that the problems you have are the same or similar to the problems other people are having, you effectively build up a contact network. 3) You get to meet the makers and traders first hand and they are all a great group of people. They are more than willing to give you advice and cut you deals if you approach them the right way.
I realise at the moment the LARP awards are quite small and to a certain degree tongue in cheek, however as they go on and they grow I think they will become a very important part of the UK LARP calendar. This year already saw an increase in number of attendees, and some people just came for the awards themselves. Overall the evening was not only fun but it allowed people to compare notes and share in each other’s success.

If Ian keeps on inviting us we will continue to attend, it felt good to receive the runner ups position for Best Grass roots Club and hopefully next year we will be nominated for it again as well as Family and Medium LARP although the competition is going to be steep in all categories. I also have someone in mind for unsung hero category as well.

I would also like to thank all the people who nominated us and who voted for us and our members and those who attend event after event.

Gary Bates,

Chairman of Seaxe & Sorcery
