Dear reader , accross the infinate planes of the universe are worlds of magic and gods , heroes and monsters . here is a tale of one such place

The shadow grew larger, the inky blackness covering the doorway. Suddenly a man stepped out. He was tall with a shaven head, dark intense eyes and a jagged scar running down his left cheek. As he became solid, the shadow shrank and vanished. He looked round, his black robes billowing in the summer breeze. No one paid him any attention. In the city of Nox , magical transportation was commonplace. The man checked himself, to make sure he had left nothing behind, and then he turned and walked towards the market. As he walked through the crowd people moved out of his way, as if physically pushed. The stranger had an aura of fear and power about him and cold rage. Those he passed could feel the cold rage within him. The man ignored them, intent on finding the woman he loved. He couldn't think of anything else but her, her beauty, her kindness and those who had taken her from him. Two weeks of bliss followed by pain as was dragged from his reach. They had struck with surprise and he was unready . left for dead he had soon recovered and regained his strength. and now he had found her and his anger filled him, consumed him as it had for days. Her parents, elders of her clan had declared him unsuitable and ignoring her wishes had taken her. He would not stop till he found her and then her parents; her clan would discover exactly how much power he possessed. Up ahead on the other side of the market was the high city, home of Nox's most powerful and influential . It was here that her parents had taken herto the ciry they owned where all were related in some way . Here they had taken her , locked away from the outside world lest she try to rejoin him. He would free her. As powerful as the sorcerers of her clan were, they could not hope to match him, they could not hope to stop him, and they could not hope to live. His right eye began to glow as his anger grew stronger still and the flesh of his right hand receded, showing the rune carved iron beneath.

After a few minutes he came to the gate of her family mansion. The solders on duty had obviously been given his description, for they drew their weapons as he approached. He raised his staff and uttered a single word and the world went white. The gate was blasted apart and the guards incinerated in a flash of hot fire and energy. People ran screaming as the man stepped over the burning rubble and headed up the path. Soldiers came pouring out of the mansion. The man began to spin his staff above his head, faster and faster. The air was filled with a horrendous moan and wail and the guards fell screaming to the floor, blood pouring from their ears and eyes. . The man walked calmly past their dying forms. He would be reunited with his love this day and her family would pay for their crimes. With a thought he banished his staff and a great sword, its blade sheathed in purple flame and carved with runes appeared in its place. He struck the doors with the sword. The oak, ancient and strong crumbles to dust and the metal melted, running down the steps. The man entered the building and was engulfed by fire and lightning and stone and ice. The sorcerer's of the family purred spell after spell into the stranger who was engulfed by the storm of magic. The floor cracked and the walls were blasted but when the smoke cleared the man stood unarmed, his robes smoking slightly. He smiled and raised his sword. Black tendrils reached out from the blade and struck the sorcerers who had attacked him. Each one buried itself in their chests and they were consumed, their bodies turning to dust. Then he spied his beloved's father, He reached out and grabbed the trembling man by the throat and threw him against the wall. The man fell to his knees and begged for his life. But the stranger was filled with rage and anger and hate and he swung his sword down, slicing the father in two. The man climbed the stairs. He could sense his love and he could feel her fear and panic. Then he could feel no more and he knew then he was too late. At the top of the stairs her uncle came at him but the man backhanded him and tore his head from his shoulders. He kicked open the door to her room and stood in silent horror. His beloved lay on her bed, her throat cruelly slit by her won mother to prevent him having her. Her mother stood next to the bed, blood on her hands, her dagger still held. The man roared with rage and fell upon her. He grabbed her throat and lifted her high in the air, stifling her screams. With a howl of despair he impaled her upon his sword and let go, leaving her hanging from the wall. She screamed and cried as the man whispered in her ear. "Today all you hold dear ends. Your husband is dead, your children will die, your whole clan will cease". Filled with white hot rage he began to chant. Across the city of Nox, the magic users felt their power drain from them. Static filled the air and suddenly an inrush of air pulled people from their feet. Then a white flash filled the air and the city was consumed in a white hot ball of fire and power. The earth shock and miles away people felt the tremors and heard the noise. The city was gone, ended by the sorrow and fury of a stranger to late to save his love form her parents.

As the gods looked down from upon high, two translucent figures appeared on the hill side above the smoking crater. The stranger looked at his love, reunited at last in death and they kissed, together now for eternity.

and so the tale ends and the evil people of Nox paid for the hate of their matriarch . But let us not dwell upon this blasted place for elsewhere another tale is just beginning
