I am sure you will consider such also rather perplexing.
"Today marks the start of the LHC research programme with the first attempt for collisions at 7 TeV (3.5 TeV per beam).
Webcasts are available until 18:15 (Central European Summer Time - CEST). The main webcast will include live footage from the control room for the LHC accelerator and from the control rooms of the four main LHC experiments: ALICE, ATLAS, CMS and LHCb.
13:30: Press release - LHC research programme gets underway"
Essentially the Large Hedron Collider is as of today charging to the highest limits seen and will be unleashing energy levels not seen in Human knowledge since the theory of 'The Big Bang'. Which in theory begun all life.
Being a rather fond man of 'The Rifts Role Playing Game' as made by Palladium, and having the honour of Dr. William Kain GM for me once before (A whole new concept this is, the Table Top Role Playing, I tried playing a Evil Half Orc, but it just brought back nostalgic memories and I wasnt too good at it, anyway I digress) part of me feels that perhaps if this thing 'goes off' the world as me know it may well end up like Rifts, or worse.
Your thoughts,
Your friend and Ally.
Vhal Elwood.
I wasn't sure what this was about until I spoke to Vhal on ley and then realised I had heard talks of this machine being fired up for the first time months ago and that it could destroy the world.....so much hype for days and days before hand.....and then nothing. Oddly quiet.
Turns out the thing didn't work because something blew on a circuit.
Now they try again.
You would *think* that they would take the hint from the machine itself telling them to NOT run me rather than persisting.
Nothing good can come of this I tell you.

Europe's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has produced record-breaking high-energy particle collisions.
Scientists working on the European machine have smashed beams of protons together at energies that are 3.5 times higher than previously achieved.
Tuesday's milestone marks the beginning of work that could lead to the discovery of fundamental new physics.
There was cheering and applause in the LHC control room as the first collisions were confirmed.
LHC EXPLAINED
LHC guide in graphics and video
These seven-trillion-electronvolt (TeV) collisions have initiated 18-24 months of intensive investigations at the LHC.
Scientists hope the studies will bring novel insights into the nature of the cosmos and how it came into being.
Many of them have described Tuesday's event as the beginning of a "new era in science".
But researchers caution that the data gathered from the sub-atomic impacts will take time to evaluate, and the public should not expect immediate results.
"Major discoveries will happen only when we are able to collect billions of events and identify among them the very rare events that could present a new state of matter or new particles," said Guido Tonelli, a spokesman for the CMS detector at the LHC.
"This is not going to happen tomorrow. It will require months and years of patient work," he told BBC News.
The LHC is one of the biggest scientific endeavours ever undertaken.
WHAT IS AN ELECTRON VOLT?
Charged particles tend to speed up in an electric field, defined as an electric potential - or voltage - spread over a distance
One electron volt (eV) is the energy gained by a single electron as it accelerates through a potential of one volt
It is a convenient unit of measure for particle accelerators, which speed particles up through much higher electric potentials
The first accelerators only created bunches of particles with an energy of about a million eV (MeV)
The LHC can reach beam energies a million times higher: up to several teraelectronvolts (TeV)
This is still only the energy in the motion of a flying mosquito
But that energy is packed into a comparatively few particles, travelling at more than 99.99% of the speed of light
Housed at Cern (the European Organization for Nuclear research) in a 27km-long tunnel under the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, the LHC successfully collided particle beams travelling at close to the speed of light.
The expectation is that previously unseen phenomena will reveal themselves in the resulting debris, with a key objective being the search for the much talked-about Higgs boson particle.
This is thought to have a profound role in the structure of the Universe, and would enable scientists to explain why matter has mass - something which, at a fundamental level, they have difficulty doing at present.
Cern's director general Rolf Heuer said: "It's a great day to be a particle physicist.
"The LHC has a real chance over the next two years of... possibly giving insights into the composition of about a quarter of the Universe."
And oh look, the world didn't implode!
You would think, between puritan xenocidal templars, casual genocide, gugs and so on we'd have enough to concern ourselves without having to make up baseless concerns about technology that even now is barley emulating some of the showier "tricks" some of our members can pull off.
I could not agree more. I can see how a Elf from Asgard the 8th world might find this interesting however I for one am more interestined in the comming storm and who has been allowing Gugs to wander around on earth in this time and others.
Perhaps you are suggesting that Europe's Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has in some why something to do with the problems we currently face. or maybe you believe that the Tick Tock Man or perhaps the cult of Law has something to do with the LHC.
Perhaps it in its future form has become one of the new gods of Law or is a manifestation of one of the great old ones or outer gods? Perhaps we should send you to investigate whilst we here at home continue to fight the good fight and face evil and chaos with a stiff upper lip and the resolve only a British Gentlemans club can muster!
Stands tall and salutes the Union Flag!
Welldone Douglas Corvine, your wit amazes me (See we can all use Sarcasm).
These are all possibilities you have raised Dr. William Kain, and I have to confess this sort of thing doesn't usually catch my concern, but technology is mildly new to me, and when I hear humans making machines which can make particles move at the speed of light, its something to be Joyous about, and also to hold great concern. Unfortunately, I am not aware of who the Tick Tock Man actually is.
I do confess, for a Gentlemans club, I'm rather surprised with the efforts of The Arcanium Society, as I only hear rumour of some of its older agents, and some of the endeavours taken sound like something which is like The Thomas Crown Affair, if not more illustrious.
However, aside from the casual wit and atittude I could expect no less from, lets look at the possibilities, what happens if the agents of the old one, or those of the comming storm get hold of this technology and use it for there own means? Now, if Humans can actually physically assertain what 'Mass' actually means, or is, what does this spell for The Knights of Purity and there advancement of technology to wipe out everything which isn't Human.
There are un-forseen ripple effects which only few can see.
Yet yes, lets use formless wit and talk like ignorant whelps to each other, because this is surely becomming of the Arcanium Society.
I will state however, my words are not pointed towards my employer and friend Dr. William Kain, as I would rather like to keep my Job!
(Just to make sure there isn't any confusion).
Vhal Elwood.
Now now
The Large Hadron Collider is of no threat to us at this time .
We are also forgetting that in recent months the Knights of purity have been locked in a stalemate war with the "soceity" and by that i dont mean us, rather the group of supernatural people who in some ways are the mystic worlds own version of the KoP. Until that war is over we can breath a bit easier where the knights are concerned . However that doesnt mean we can be less vigilant about them
What concernes me more is the recent events that suggest the old ones , outer gods , mad gods or elder beings are somehow managing to break through into our reality . It is not the Large Hadron Collider's doing . Indeed it has re assured me it has no wish to destroy humanity ( although i have a vague impression in the future it may go "skynet" on us, but that is a concern for another day )
Dr Darkspring
Thank you Dr Richard Darkspring,
You, are without question one of the few people I would know for certain who understood the current prediciment and the movements of the Hadron Collider.
Thank you, for enlightening me.

I knew a sorcerer once , long ago who treid to build a msystic version of that thing . Suffice to say it went wrong and the poor man spent some time fused to a iron Golem . The mystic Collider imploded until it was the size of a childs marble , although infinitly denser ( in earths gravity it weights about a ton) and ended up gaining sentience and vast god like powers . We called it bob . i have its address somewhere
Any way what was i saying
Dr Darkspring
Vhal,
In the interest of keeping our relationship civil I must apologize for my sarcasm. I have been spending far too long reading headlines that make a huge deal out of nothing and as a result turning popular opinion against our advancing our knowledge of the Universe, and took some of my resultant anger out on you.
I am sorry.
But seriously, do you really think the Gnomes would let anyone build a giant black-hole machine in their back garden? Even if the technology being invented is going to go catastrophically wrong (or catastrophically right, even), it's not going to go wrong in Geneva.
My Dear No One, I apologise Jedha,
Whilst I always enjoy listening to the prattle of the uninformed, especially when they cast opinion on a subject of which they have no understanding, nor ability to understand, I feel I must correct you.
When the Large Hadron Collider was powered up it did not blow a circuit at any point, nine days into the first experiment the electronic connection between two of the 1,200 magnets failed causing them to overheat, starting a leak of liquid helium. Since that point the LCH has broken the record for the highest energy particle accelerator twice, the first time ten days after it came back on line and the second two days ago. Pretty impressive considering it currently only running on half power.
So as you will see it is not simply that they tried the machine it didn’t work they fiddled about with the basics and are now trying again, as anyone who spent more time reading actual documents about the project rather than tabloid titillations would know.
I suspect few amongst our membership, beside possibly Messer Covine and Dr Khaine, have a great deal of understanding what the LCH project is trying to achieve. As a group too many of our membership is concerned with the mystical, believing it superior to the mundane. Those of us with fully working intellects realise that once you reach a certain level the mundane and the mystical are one and the same, which is one of the reasons that I have been a sponsor of CERN since its inception.
Really children if you cannot play nicely, someone will have to put you on the naughty step, and yes elf at 700 years compared to some you still only count as a youngster.

To Marques of Kensington Richard Harlington.
Thank you for those comments, its rather charming to hear that there are those older than I, sometimes immortality can grow tiring.
To Douglas Corvine, your apology is accepted full heartedly, I wont speak further on this matter. You have my gratitude.
As an Investor Richard Harlington, are you finding the rewards of such an investment profitable or helpfull? I'm meerely asking out of curiosity and an interest.
I was speaking to a few fellows within the Templar Lodge who had similar interests with the Hadron Collider, and also the new development of Sky Elevators. It appears many important people are investing heavily in the new age of technology developing in so many directions.
Vhal Elwood.
Vhal it is Marquis not Marques I am a member of the nobility not an oversized tent.
I wonder how could immortality ever get boring when one has access to all of the wonders of time itself. When there is so much to experience, boredom could only be experienced by a boring person.
As for investing in CERN for profit, my dear chap it is just another of my charitable donations, when one is born into privilege and power one holds a duty to give something back to the common man.
R.H.
My Apologies for the error and typo.
Thats one possibility, my time however, unfortunately, is long forgotten.
As to your charity, thats very noble of you, something I very much so understand.
Duty, is a very important thing, do you think its still prominent in this day and age?
Vhal Elwood.
Dear Vhal,
From science and technology to charity and duty what twists and turns this thread takes. The Serpent men of earth’s ancient past those said to have come out of Valusia in the Palaeozoic era and who where said by some to serve the Great Old One Yig and or with the Stygian serpent god Set.
They where masters of alchemy, astromomy, sorcery and science. They saw no difference between the mystical arts and the metaphysical ones. In fact they saw them as different sides of the same coin, by opening themselves up to both disciplines they where able to achieve greater success in both fields.
Oh now that brings me back to Serpent men, Ghouls, Gugs and the current problems we face. Which does not come from a Scientific experiment been conducted in the relative safety of a purpose built lab deep under ground, in an area where Gnomes, Trolls, Dwarves and Pech all dwell as well as lesser and greater spirits of soil, rock and earth.
I think for now we are safe. However the coming storm is an unknown factor which may well cause us all great hardship and suffering!
Dr. William Khaine
Dear Dr. William Khaine,
This is very true, I'd like to say I could add more to what you have said but the words would meerely be echo'ing your own sentiment.
With regards your words of the comming Storm, as difficult as it may be, one of the few things I tell myself when in the darkest of shadows is that nothing worth fighting for comes easy.
Vhal Elwood.
