This the Tale of Valdyne the last Saxon King of Essex in 703 (1250 version). In this source wrote by the Norman historian Miles de Leechford we see reference to the King as a Pagan and not a Christian. This of course conflicts with what is laid down by the unknown Saxon writer in the Saxon Chronicles.

It is said that Valdyne, the last pagan King of Essex lived a life of plunder and conquest for many, many years he made war on his lawful neighbours and helped to establish himself as one of the greatest and most feared war lords of England. Although his Kingdom was the smallest of the Seven Saxon Kingdoms it prospered due to the ferociousness of its King. All who dwelt within this Kingdom found their lord to be a strict but fair ruler as long as they obeyed his every law. His reign was however short and bloody, as he bested each of his lands great warriors and made them bow to him as his vassal warriors. He stood up for the lowest serf and the highest noble but only as long as they remained loyal and pledge themselves to a life times service to his cause. It was said that through some unknown means he could tell whether a person was going to speak a lie before it was spoken and could gaze upon a man and know whether he served him loyally or belonged to another. It is said that he was jealous of those who could read and would fight or have killed any warrior in his service who could.
However if history is to be believed Valdyne had an evil half brother Morgan who hated him for his good looks and the power he wielded. Morgan was a dark man of ill temper and black humour. It was said that Morgan served the dark lord Lucifer and that Morgan was a warlock filled with dark and foul magicks given to him as part of a fell pact with the dark one. His brother although older was a bastard born of a Thrall his father had taken on a raid in Wales. The woman had been mad and some of that madness and ill will had been passed onto her son. As Morgan had grown up he had learnt to hate everything about his brother this was made worse when he was passed over by the great lords when it came time to pick a new king. Morgan felt betrayed by his father’s court and his brother so in turn he betrayed them to his enemies and did wrought a war the likes of which the noble kingdom of England has not seen before or since.
Morgran had enlisted the aid of Hessian mercenaries from the lands of Germany and he also combed the lowest and accursed settlements of the Saxon world in order to hire the most vile and evil spirited of Saxon warrior. With his half demon wife he invoked his dark lord’s name and drew forth from the very pits of flame ghosts, demons and spirits to do mischief in his name. Some of Morgan’s forces where given to him by the Kings of Kent and Anglia, however these wise men did not provide their best or bravest instead the troops they sent where criminals and men who where condemned to death for been disloyal. Still others where brought back from beyond the grave, these zombies came from the ranks of the dammed those who had died out side of Gods blessing or who had broken the ten commandments without repenting.
The legends say that the two forces fought each other in winter during the most foulest of weather and storms. In the end both sides nearly spent the two leaders came face to face in a final clash. However as Valdyne met Morgran in the final battle and struck him down with a single blow, he was dealt a grievous and poisoned wound by his brothers dark and enspelled blade as it fell from the traitor’s dead hand. For it is said that Fraylla Morgans wife had laid a dark magick and powerful curse upon her husbands blade and bid it slaw the man who killed her husband.
However before the poison could completely do its work Malor, the king’s wizard, found his dying friend and king on the battlefield and took him in arms, lifting him will magical might he took him away to a hidden tomb in Laindon. Their he laid his beloved lord and enlisting the aid of his king’s twelve greatest knights and body guards to stand guard over their king he buried them all until he could research a means of saving his lord and returning his King to life whole and restored. So there he was laid to rest until such a time as his friend could find a cure and resurrect him to continue his reign of blood and conquest.
This the Tale of Chief Klavayn last King of the Britons in the county we know call Essex. Although the events take place in 54 B.C and where written up and translated by Sir Horris Rumpole of the Royal Society of Historians and Genealogist in 1503 A.D it seems to tell a similar tale as related in the Saxon Chronicles and the works of Miles de Leechford

It was said by the Druids and bards of the Celtic people and then latter by the historians of the Romans, Saxons and then Normans that Once upon a time in the lands of Briton which we now call Merry England dwelt a mighty Celtic War Chief named as Klavayn the Great, Klavayn the Strong and Most impressive Klavayn Stag Blooded, it was said of this great hero of our fair Isles long ago past that although a pagan he embodied many of the qualities we now hold dear as Christian and although he was the last Chief of his clan he could have been a noble gentleman at home in our present green and pleasant land. He was to be the last Celtic Chief of his ancestral lands, lands which we modern people refer to as been that part of Essex known as Thurrock. This mighty king lived a life of joy and care free adventure, for many years would pass before he was forced by the death of his father in battle against Julius Caesar in 55 B.C ago. This forced him to return home to his Kin and Clan and take on the mantle of King. Although his Kingdom was small it prospered and all who dwelt within his lands lead honest, hardworking and content lives. His reign was just and proper. It was said he settle disputes quickly and justly. He would not tolerate murder or theft and ruled that no man would harm another unless he be rightfully empowered to do so by the law, he became a great warriors in his own right and it was at this time he got the title stag blooded. In time all he stood against bowed and embraced his enlightened ways. Eventually people from other lands sort him out and did beg to be his vassals and his warriors. He stood up for the lowest slave and the highest born warrior with equal energy just as long as their cause was a just and honest one. It was by both his friends and foes that the power of Herne was about him and granted him a special kind of sight the wise and the knowledgeable all agreed that he could tell a lie before it was spoken by man or woman and that he could see into any mans heart and soul and tell if a man was good and pure or evil and corrupted. He could read the words of the Romans, Greeks and people of Israel and could fight in the styles and ways of the roman’s and ghouls as well as those of his own people.
However he was cursed with an evil half brother Mortham who hated him as the devil hates god for where one was light and pure of heart the other was black and twisted deep inside. Mortham was a dark man, short of build and stout of frame where his brother was fair of hair and skin and tall of height. It was widely believed that, he served the dark lord Balor as today evil people serve the devil. Morthan was also a drune lord dark and twisted and who thought he followed the will of his master Balor who we know was but one of many pagan disguises for the Devil. Mortham although much older than his brother Klavayn was as we would say today a bastard borne outside of marriage to a slave girl taken from a Formori worshiping tribe the Vorts and so was passed over by the clan elders when it came time to pick a new chief. Mortham felt betrayed and let down by his fathers friends and so he decided to betray his younger brother to his enemies, and so was a bloody war was wrought by one brother on another a war in which the noble cheifdon and his kingdom of was all but laid to waste.
Mortham enlisted mercenaries from Ghoul many of whom had fought with, against or for the Romans and the also the dregs of his own people he also invoked Balor his dark lord and it was said that a hoste of lessor formori of the pits where sent to fight in his dark cause, some of Mortham’s forces where lent to him by the Kings and chiefs who dwelt in the lands we call of Kent and Anglia whilst still others where brought back from beyond the grave and took the forms of corpses and skeletons. The legends say that Klavayn met Mortham in a great and final battle upon a hill of woods and trees. As the battle neared an end Klavayn struck down Mortham him with a single blow, but the fiendish Mortham had, had his Drunes lay a dark and fearsome magick upon his night blade and it dealt the wise and mighty chief a mortal wound as it fell from Mortham’s clawed hand.
Mathlyn, the chiefs arch druid, mentor and friend found Klavayn dying on the battlefield and took him in arms, and enlisting the aid of the spirits of air, earth, fire and water he slipped away with his now dead lord to work magicks upon him in some unknown cave. With him he took Klavayn’s twelve greatest warriors all chiefs in their own right and friends of the hero from his child hood days. Once there they were all laid to rest and a powerful spell cast upon them until so that they will one day rise again to defend the Land from evils dark threat.
This the Tale of Vallander Holy King of Saxon Essex in 703 A.D is related here as told in the Saxon Chronicles

It is said that Vallander, the First Christian and last Saxon King of Essex lived a life of adventure many years ago in the time of the Seven Saxon Kingdoms. Although his Kingdom was small it prospered and all who dwelt within lead honest and content lives. His reign was just and pious, great warriors bowed to be his vassals and his warriors. He stood up for the lowest serf and the highest noble as long as the cause was a just and honest one. It was said he could tell a lie before it was spoke and could gaze upon a man and know whether he served good or evil. He could read and fight and was said to have been at home reading from the Bible as he was fighting with his sword.
However his evil and pagan half brother Morgrin hated him for his piety and goodness, Morgrim was dark where his brother was fair, he served the dark lord Satan as our good king served our lord God. Morgrin was a sorceer dark and foul and followed Satan in his guise as the pagan gods. His brother although older was a bastard and so was passed over by the great lords when it came time to pick a new king. Morgrin felt betrayed by his fathers court and his brother so in turn he betrayed him to his enemies, wrought a war in which the noble kingdom of Essex was laid to waste.
Morgrim enlisted Hun mercenaries and the dregs of the Saxon world he invoked his dark lord and it was said that a demon of the pit sat by his side in the guise of a Saxon shaman and rune caster, some of Morgrims forces where lent to him by the Kings of Kent and Anglia whilst still others where brought back from beyond the grave. The legends say that Vallander met Morgrin in the final battle and struck him down with a single blow, but the fiend Morgrin had laid a dark magick upon his own blade and it dealt the wise and noble king a grievious wound as it fell from the traitor’s dead hand.
Father Mathor, the king’s priest, found his dying lord on the battlefield and took him in arms, enlisting the aid of his twelve bravest knights they took him from the battlefield and carried him to a secret crypt. There he was laid to rest until such a time as God saw fit to send him back to us to defend this Christian Land from evils dark threat.
It would be quite nice if a few other people would like to write a tale and tell it from three different perspectives or altered by time or political perspective.
