Lies and Despise (DnD Campaign)
Lies and Despise

Prologue

Our tale begins here, in Athkatla, capital city of the nation of Amn and a prominent city in the eyes ok Waukeen, the goddess of trade, money and wealth. Here it is said that any ship coming to do trade will return laiden with gold, jewels and exotic merchandise. Prehaps it is because of this that you have decided to come to Amn, or prehaps you are already a resident in this immense city making a living. For whatever reason, you have been drawn on this day, the eve of Midsummer, to a very vague, yet very intriguing parchments hanging outside one of the taverns located around Waukeen's Promenade...

Intrigued, interested, or maybe even a little suspicious, you venture in hoping the barkeeper inside will give you more information in regards to this job inquiry...

Boring/Exciting Stuff
I'm looking for a decent sized group to play in this campaign I'm hoping to kick off either late August or September. The campaign setting is Forgotten Realms. I want characters pre-genned for this campaign and as it's a "campaign", it'll start low powered but I will be making this a High-powered campaign, so hopefully it won't take too long to get you up some levels. Here are a few of the rules for generating your character:

Ability Scores: 32 points to spend on your abilities, all of which start on 8. Everything up to 14 costs 1 point each to increase, then 2 points each up to 16 and finally, 17 and 18 cost 3 points each.

Backgrounds: Your background region is important in Forgotten Realms. Anyone who hasn't got the 3.5 rulebook for the campaign setting can come see me. Remember, you all may or may not know each other before the game starts IC, but make your reasons for accepting the job legitimate!

Classes/Prestige Classes and Races: All races, classes and prestige classes from the player's handbook, the dungeon master's guide and the Forgotten Realms campaign sourcebook are allowed. Any others, please ask me and I'll let you know if you can use it (I have Complete Arcane, Complete Mage, Book of Exalted Deeds and Book of Vile Darkness for people to flick through if they wish).

Starting Equipment: You start with the amount of gold stated in the player's handbook, and can spend it on whatever you wish. If you think you would have something for free, please ask me and I'll let you know if you can have it for free.

Other Sourcebooks: Come see me about any other sourcebooks you are eyeing up for this campaign.

My characters in Seaxe systems:

HMS - Terran Spellguard/Barlara Stormbull
Company of the Helm - Barlara Bretta
Arcanium Society - Damien Bennet
Mutant Chronicles - Jorrick Henrikson

Oh if anyone is curious about the sub races/new races you can play in Forgotten Realms, they are as follows:

Dwarves - Shield Dwarves (Basic Dwarf), Gold Dwarf, Duergar (Dark Dwarf)

Elves - Moon Elf (Basic Elf), Sun Elf, Wood Elf, Wild Elf, Drow

Gnomes - Rock Gnome (Basic Gnome), Svirfneblin (Deep Gnome) another subrace I can't remember off hand

Halflings - Lightfoot (Basic Halfling), Strongheart, Ghostwise

Planetouched - Genasi (Earth, Air, Fire or Water planetouched), Tiefling (Demonic heritage), Aasimar (Celestial heritage)

You can of course play as Humans, Half-Orcs and Half-Elves as per normal, but these races are completely unchanged from the player's handbook.

My characters in Seaxe systems:

HMS - Terran Spellguard/Barlara Stormbull
Company of the Helm - Barlara Bretta
Arcanium Society - Damien Bennet
Mutant Chronicles - Jorrick Henrikson

Apparently 4th ed allows for warforged in Forgotten Realms...

Pretty please?

Also, what level are you planning on starting on?

No, I detest 4th Edition. The multiclassing system makes no sense, you need 3 books just have any decent material, half the races/classes are unavailable and Forgotten Realms has been completely destroyed in it's latest incarnation.

However, if you can come up with a suitable reason as to why there would be a Warforged in Forgotten Realms I'll let you use the Eberron rules to make a character, but remember Forgotten Realms is more fantasy based than Eberron. I'd imagine, a bit like I, Robot or Bicentennial Man, a Warforged in Forgotten Realms would be similar to a Golem that, for some reason, is self-aware.

Also I was going to be proper about this and start everyone at level 1 since I want to make this a campaign and not a one shot, though I might be pursuaded to up it a level or two.

Ok, possibly use the rules for a warforged but take background as an attempt by the creator to save the life of a loved one by transferring their soul into a homunculus.

Sound appropriate?

Yeah sounds suitable enough, and interesting enough a background to possibly explore. Obviously if she (he?) isn't accompanying you, there should be a reason, although the obvious one would be that the Warforged outlived them and is actually quite old.

Darren, can the Scholar join in? Obviously at a lower level but you know what he is like Wink I would think he would it in quite well. Lacing insane dual weapon skills ... to begin with at least

Yeah of course... gawd this poor guy is gonna get some freaky employees! I will need to PM you about a few things because the Scholar has some "interesting" background.

Also, I can't remember which region of Faerun practices this skill, but a nation or two in Faerun practice the Twin-Sword Style feat which would suit the Scholar down to a tee. I don't think you'll be able to take it so early on, but it might be an idea to have the Scholar from one of these regions so he can take it eventually at least.

I've seen one Ep of Full Metal Alchem and none of it made a lick of sense, so its not inspired by that my friend.

I was thinking of going with "matured and left home to experience the wider world."

But then again I might just fill out the early career of one of my old pregenned characters!

Up to you, the Warforged idea is fine and something like that would be fine with me, up to you as to how you want to take it though. I'm just the story teller technically Smile

Indeed you are...
Do you remember how much a magic extending rod is? (yes, plenty of jokes to be made with that one)
Its the only majic item that I find almost indispensible.

Basically can go from half a foot in length to 10ft at will.
I'd be willing to trade a starting feat for it.

I'll have a look. I might give it to you for nothing if it's too expensive given that you're technically from a magic background anyways.

Ah ok ... In full metal alchemist 2 borthers end up doing a forbidden spell and as a result the younger brother almost dies ... the only way to save him is for the older brother to bind his soul to a large suit of plate armour.

And it is typical anime that results in confusion and you being expected to know what it is all about before you watch it.

Q.

Q - Wikipedia has already explained the setup to me. I have also decided that all manga outside Ghost in the Shell is developed by mentally retarded 13 year olds. Its like the very worst wish fullfillment RPG and LARP games were illusrated and spewed forth onto the page.

Darren: I might not go for the homunculus background as a race. It'd probably be too jarring in the FR setting. But then again I am thinking of doing a wizard for the first time as a table top character.

Excellent, so we have the DPS and the Mage, all we need is a Cleric and a Rogue and we have the typical Dungeons and Dragons party Smile

Okey doke Emma, you can be the Rogue... phew! I'm glad the party's got one, they're a bit screwed if they don't (it being Dungeons and Dragons and therefore, inevitably, have traps).

Darren, I'd like to go with a windling wizard.
They are a diminutive sized winged fey race.

As a concept are you ok with that?
