Monday Nights
Gentlemen and Ladies,

I need four more regular players for Monday nights or I am afraid I will have to close down the Monday Night Seaxe sessions. This will be a shame as they provide a valuable time to catch up, plan and pass on messages as well as unwind and play some most excellent games in very good company.

Their has been an official week night Seaxe session since 1984 and I really do not want to stop. It started of in my secondry school, then moved to East Tilbury Youth Club held in the local Junior School. From here it went to the Tilbury Red Cross hall and then onto Roys house before finally going down the fort and onto East Tilbury Village Hall.

Please if we can get four (4) more regular players by August we can save the club, however they will need to start by the first Monday in August. It is £7.50 a month and really people should pay even if they do not attend for a week or two.

Please think very carefully about this and reply if either you can make it or a friend can. Please not do not post if you simply want to say I would love to but I cannot (Not thinking of any one in particular here). I do not make this appeal lightly but I really do want the club to carry on.

Gary,
Chairman of Seaxe & Sorcery

RE: Monday Nights
Greetings and well met,

I thought I would give you all an up date. The responce to this message has been overwhemling and very emotional. As many of you know Monday Nights has become a focal point for the club and is very important to me personally as the only original member who still attends. Wayne comes next with Martin and Dave following in order of who has attended the longest.

We have seen many people come and go and in many cases come again. We have grwon in numbers where we have had to at one point run four games of 6 to where we have barely been able to run one game of six. At each point we have either celebrated or pulled together to save the club.

The responce this time has been excellent. Last night Rob and Tom came down and we hope will be regular attenders. Emma, Alex and Darius also turned up which was a most welcomed suprise and we have had e-mails of support foirm other mebers who for now shall remain nameless unless they say otherwise offereing to contribute even though they may not be able to attend.

I have to say guys I am touched very deeply by all of you. I will now be able to keep things going at least till the end of the year. 2 more people would give us an even better saftey margin but I am happy with what we have got. Lets keep on pulling together and I tell you now their is nothing we cannot achieve.

Gary

RE: Monday Nights
Greetings and well met one and all,

I am just amking a note about Monday Nights and the new games on offer. We now have a very healthy number of players on Monday Nights and this as always causes a problem of its own.

We now have two many Players for Two Dungeon Msters to handle. This is no insult to any of the Dungeon Masters currently running the Games. We also loose all of the younger ones as they go back to school. So I am suggesting the following:

Emma continues to GM the 3.5 D&D

Sam runs Exulted

I will run a third game, a bog standard Dungeon Crawl using Advanced Fighting Fantasy.

This means we can all run with five players. Might I suggest that Sam you continue with the players who have already said they would like to play your game and use my most beloved character as an NPC or allow Kim to run her if Kim would like to.

The rest of the people from Daves game who had not said which game they where going to paly next could divide up between Emma and myself. Emma if you do not mind you could simply create a number of pre-gen characters to give to any new players who venture along.

Might I also suggest that we need to sort out a means for DM's top contact me and let me know when they can or cannot make the Hall so another game can be arranged for their palyers.

Thank you all for listening

Gary

RE: Monday Nights
I think Alex was interested in DMing something, though I'm not sure what.

For my game, since the younger people are back at school, I assume you mean we will be losing them as players; thus making characters free in my game if that is indeed the case.

RE: Monday Nights
Monday Nights for the Next three weeks and beyound:

Sams game will continue for three more weeks (Thank You Sam)

Wayne will be running a short three week RIFTS

My Game will continue until well after Christmas.

In THREE weeks time we nned a new roster of Games for offer. I am suggesting Four Games.

Wayne is Offering Rifts:

I am Offering ADVANCED FIGHTING FANTASY: The Thirteen Spells of Darkness; The Third Spell. If people wish to leave my game and try one of the others they are welcome. I have two spare slots on my game however if anyone is interested in joining.

We need two other DM's, I undertand Alex may wish to run something if this is true then we only need one other game. I am suggesting a Max of 8 Players per game although 6 would be preferable. Please either sign up here or on Monday Nights.

Gary

RE: Monday Nights
If no one else is up for it I would be willing to run a Hollow Earth Expedition (HEX) - 1930's pulp, which may or may not involve travelling into the Earth (which might be hollow). Would really only want 6 players though.

RE: Monday Nights
At the moment, I am shifting through untold piles of tabletop volumes to see what I can run. So far the list has been considerably narrowed down to:

-Shadowrun (2nd or 3rd ed pending on which I pull out first)
-Villians & Vigilantes
-Warhammer Quest ( which can be used as a gap filler if a game ends early)
-Dnd 3.5 (choice of either Midnight or World of Warcraft settings)
-Fantasy Craft (Crafty Games claim it to be dnd the way it should have been)
-Inquisitor (using 40k scaled miniatures as an experiment)

if there is anything that people have not tried before then I can run that in preference.

RE: Monday Nights
*This is a provisional game offer, if someone else comes forward with a game they want to run I am more than willing to step aside*

Hollow Earth Expeditions – Secrets of the Hollow Earth

A daring story of life & death taking six plucky adventurers from 1930’s London to the Dark Continent and beyond! Seeking the lore of a lost civilisation as well the legendary treasurers rumoured to be hidden there.

I am looking for 6 players, preferably 4 gents and 2 ladies to fit with the pre-gen characters who are not afraid of the unknown and long to play in the pulp fiction world inspired by Tarzan, Indian Jones and The Shadow, where the occult and weird science mix and the glories of history can be found, and sometimes killed!

RE: Monday Nights
Alex what are you planning to run? After speaking with Gary on Monday looks as though there will be three not four games: Gary's AFF, Waynes's Rifts and your game. So we need to know what you are going to run!

RE: Monday Nights
Looks like it's V & V on this occassion Dave.

V & V is a game in which the players are actually themselves but have gained super powers through some means however, having attempted this approach before, I tend to allow my players to create a character as per any other rp, it's more fun that way I think.

Please note that players ultimately don't choose their powers, they are completely randomised.

I think that depends a lot on us players. For example, I only expected my gave to run for about 6 weeks. Oh how wrong I was

RE: Monday Nights
I would, based on Sam’s estimate, suggest that the new games are delayed until after Christmas since 4 weeks takes us to 21st December which would normally be our Xmas drinks. That does mean that Wayne might have to extend his game two weeks, which may be a bind (for Wayne I mean, not his players, just to be clear), as Gary’s game is ongoing anyway.

I would also suggest that irrespective of where the Sam’s game is, it ends by Christmas, meaning Sam you have 3 weeks to get the players where you want them.

As for the next lot of games, I am more than happy to go wherever there is a gap. Nixes on anyone else claiming the same privilege, the rest of you have to say what game you want to play. Evil Ref has spoken – So there!

RE: Monday Nights
So who will be running next year. We'll need at least 3 games. Since Wayne and Sam are finishing and Dave and Alex have plans for games (Hex and V&V respectively) it would make sense for them to run.

We also need to find out how many people in each game. Gary has suggested 6 and I'd suggest that as a maximum especially if there's complicated combat rules (e.g DnD). Perhaps if Gary, Dave and Alex each make a new thread outlining their game and people can then sign up to what game they want to do in the new year?

Of course at this point it would be good to have a separate forum for Monday nights

RE: Monday Nights
Just to clarify HEX, my game is not being running in this lot of games.

The three games are:

Gary – Advanced Fighting Fantasy – This is a continuation of the game being currently being run. THIS GAME IS FULLY BOOKED
Wayne – Rifts – This game has limited places (I think)
Alex – Villains & Vigilantes – Again I believe this game has places.

HEX – Hollow Earth Expeditions - Will be one of the games run post the new games. So never fear “Secret of the Hollow Earth” will turn up sometime (especially since I now hold all 3 rulebooks)!

I also support a Monday Night Forum!
