The week long event
Hia,

I am trying to get the week long event off work as it sounds like a lot of fun. I do have a few questions though (as always), first up - How much is it going to cost? Secondly - are the rules similar to HMS with the guild system for skills ect or is it different?

Slice'nDice Master Surgeon of The Butt, Healer of the Balance. (HMS)
Charlotte Lugger Pir..Privateer and friend to those in need of company if they pay for it. (CoTH)
Cass Dunsirn Imperial Trencher, blower upper of things. (MCM)
Jane Torres, Order of Hermes IA Agent (ToNA)

RE: The week long event
Hey Lilly,

As yet prices have not been set. Hopefully Gary & Keri & Tom will work this out soon so I can get the paypal option working for them! Smile

Company of the Helm (CotH) is Seaxe's cross-system persona. Your character is an analgamation of all characters and all your histories, based around (usually) your main character.

So for me my CotH persona is Nevyn, but not the hare warrior that he is in HMS, I play him as a Spirit Seer and warrior. Any and all interactions I've had are brought in and make him what he is.

CotH is also "if you can do it, u can. if you cant then u cant" so you couldnt say 'ive the strength of 10 men' but when asked to move a fallen tree you cant budge it an inch.

magic has to be worked at hard. its limited and takes it out of you. for example - Goraxe uses magic but it neigh on drains him to do so, so he uses a wand to boister his abilities. even then his magic is limited.

I hope that all helps! any more questions, just ask! Smile

Sam / Bifford / Nevyn

RE: The week long event
Thanks very much, I was actually thinking about playing a non-goblin Big Grin

Would it be ok to come up with a character who is an amalgam of all my favourite larp characters I have played in any system?

Sounds good! Smile

Best thing to do if you get stuck is chat to Gary.

Forgot to mention - it's effectively a one hit system - you roleplay the wound like you would in real life. Tends to make people a lot more sensible with their choices, and a lot more precise with things like trap detection! But it also means CotH has some of the best roleplaying around! Smile

RE: The week long event
That would be fine. With the Company you get to play whatever character you want to play from whatever setting, LARP or table-top. As Sam said you will meet members of the Helm that you have seen elsewhere. The Company of the Helm started off life as a table-top adventuring group and evolved into the primary adventuring group that we use over many different LARP systems, including Alrune.

Gary gives a good description of what the Company, as both a group and a setting, is like on the Company of the Helm page on the main website. The rules are so light I think they may run to a whole two pages, which includes a series of questions about your character!

So all you really need to do is have a think and then run the idea passed Gary. Since we are going to be at next weekend’s event, just grab hold of us there.

lol Smile

You make em run thru the woods - I made em walk where there was no path (several members bare-footed!)

Hare-raising stuff! (groan)

RE: The week long event
Awesome, thanks guys. I shal start building a character based around my actual skills (talking a lot and asking lots of questions) and the charcter traits I liked best of my previous characters then run it past Gary. I assume it is in a similar Britain based world to HMS?

RE: The week long event
I'm curious as to the price if we only come for, say, a day. I can't get the week off work but I'd like to join for maybe a weekend. I'm sure Garwulf would like his faithful servant (and I use this term in the loosest of terms) there to maybe carry stuff for him...

I hate those damn braclets...

My characters in Seaxe systems:

HMS - Terran Spellguard (Deceased)/Barkskin Twice-Born/Barlara Stormbull
Company of the Helm - Barlara Bretta
Arcanium Society - Damien Bennet
Mutant Chronicles - Jorrick Fieldhausen
Tales of New Albion - Patrick "Patches" Malone

RE: The week long event
I'm hoping to come for a couple or three days (Most likely the weekend) but cant make it for the whole week considering the event finishes on a wends and I'm back on site on the Thurs to start setting up Alrune (I might end up coming on the Wends rather than Thurs so that tents etc can remain set up and if people want, can remain on site... off 10 days of LARP based fun...).

As for a chara, I'm not sure which I'll play yet... I'm not going to be playing an Elf thats for sure, I might go with my Corsair idea... depending on if I can get the frock coat in time. Failing that... hmm not sure lol.

Hopefully it'll be possible, I don't think I could handle packing up my stuff, lugging it back to Tottenham and then coming back two days later.

RE: The week long event
Hi guys at present nothing has been arranged re: transfuring over between our event and Alrune. I will try and contact Terry this week and see what we can sort. As oddly as this sounds it is a bit more complicated than it sounds.

Hi there,

Some of you may know me from the Alrune event as Iris, the halfling. I have heard great things about this system from my friends and I am looking forward to the weekend!

Many thanks,
Elina

RE: The week long event
Hiya Elina - Great to hear it, you should have a wonderful time - the system is quite interesting because people take turns to monster and so on - so effectively there is no "Real" Crew, the usual crowd all take turns for different things, because of this the costs can be kept down and also means you get a high turn out of Monsters / NPC's to deal with during the event.

I'm looking forward to you being there, and Your new kit is amazing Smile

Max.

Hi everyone,

I havent been able to contact Gary about organising the stay on after the week long event but I'll be there on saturday so I'll organise it a bit better then. Terry the Warden is aware of what's intending and seems happy with it.

Cheers and see you all on Saturday Smile
